Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders in Adults
Date(s) - 05/30/2019
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Autism is a complex condition. People with Autism typically experience anxiety, hypersensitivity to sensory input, and “mind-blindness.” These factors often make it difficult for those with Autism to relate to others. In this course you will learn the patterns of behavior associated with Autism as well as ways to improve social interactions and communication.
Higher on the autism spectrum, formerly known as Asperger’s syndrome, brings difficulty into interpersonal relationships, job performance, and restricted behaviors. Living independently and performing well in a job are difficult tasks, even though people with a diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome (or people higher on the autism spectrum) have normal to high IQs. By learning more about the nature and symptoms of this syndrome, you can gain a fresh perspective on how to interact with people that are higher on the autism spectrum.
